Platinum-Palladium prints are based on a photographic process developed in the early 19th century. Photographers like Paul Strand, Irving Penn or Alfred Stieglitz used the platinum process as a form of artistic expression. Over time, due to high material cost, Platinum-Palladium prints went out of fashion but in the seventies the process was rediscovered and enjoyed a renaissance in the US and Europe.
Platinum-Palladium prints are loved by photographers and treasured by collectors and museums. The beauty of a fine Platinum-Palladium print lies in the broad tonal range, its velvety surface quality and permanence, unsurpassed by any photographic printing process.
We hand coat the finest watercolor paper with a custom made platinum-palladium and ferric oxalate emulsion with a brush. The coated paper is then exposed to UV light through a specially crafted contact negative, developed, clarified and washed to obtain a most durable print.
